Briefs: Forte out, Bronze in, Book Soon

'Ello, dear reader. Have you missed me? Well I have missed you, as well as David Yurman news, of which there has been precious little as of late. Still, fall/winter is just around the corner, with the kickoff rooftop soiree, if it is being held this year, coming in July or August. To tide us over until then, here is a roundup of the latest tidbits:

Gabriella Forte Steps Down

The company's CEO for the past two years, Ms. Forte stepped down from her position at the helm of David Yurman on June 1st. Her tenure was marked by the departure of innumerable central office and boutique staff, including—an admission in candor—every single contact, brand ambassador, and friend of mine affiliated with the company, including people who had been employed by Yurman for five and ten years.

David Yurman is now serving as interim CEO.

Bronze Enters Designs

Pure Form Bronze Collection

Several new and forthcoming David Yurman designs prominently feature bronze elements, which serve as a nod to Yurman's sculptor past—he has worked with the material for more than fifty years—as well as simply on-trend design. (Bronze is "in" for jewelry and watches for fall.) Many of DY's Anvil Collection (read my review) pieces for men use the material, as does a new Maritime Sextant Amulet for men ($350), and as will the Pure Form Bronze Collection for women, an extension of the existing Pure Form Collection which will launch at the end of August.

Yurman Book Is Forthcoming

In 2018, David Yurman's iconic cable motif turns thirty-five, and to celebrate that anniversary, David Yurman and Paul Greenhalgh are releasing David Yurman: Cable, a hardcover book, this October 3rd. From Amazon:

The book explores cable as an archetypal form and Yurman’s artistic use of it as a grand hypothesis steeped in both history and nature as the brand’s defining visual icon. With never-before-seen sketches, breathtaking photography, and informative text, this exquisite volume will be sought after by design and jewelry lovers.
