Preview of Spring/Summer 2013 Collection

National Jeweler published this month a feature on Yurman's spring/summer 2013 collections for men and women. While brightly-colored additions to the women's line proved the foci of the article, some new men's designs were also previewed, including a striking black onyx griffin amulet and some John Hardy-esque bracelets.

David Yurman Men's Streamline Rings
Pictured (above) are black titanium and sterling silver offerings from the Streamline Collection. In pave settings are the usual suspects--sapphire, cognac diamond, black diamond, and normal(?) diamond.
David Yurman Spiritual Bead Bracelets
Shown here are various new bracelets, many of which are of the spiritual bead family. Call me a purist, but I'm not feeling the multi-color pieces. They look too much like the friendship bracelets I would string together in my childhood.
David Yurman Amulets--Griffin, Dagger, and Talon
Lastly we have three new men's pendants, including, from left, a griffin amulet in black onyx, a sterling silver waves dagger, and an iced-out talon.

What is your take on these soon-to-be new arrivals? Are you happy with what DY has coming down the proverbial pike or would you like to see the company's designers take the men's line in a bold, new direction? Have your say.

Hard Rocker: February 2013

So who rocked DY the best and hardest this month? An Oscars attendee? Nope. A cool and confident Instagrammer? Not this month. No, the distinction of Hard Rocker: February 2013 goes to none other than Miss Alicia Keys.

Keys going hard at the Staples Center on Feb. 10, 2013.
Keys, who, at the 2013 Grammy Awards, brought down the house with Adam Levine, did so in a Curb Chain necklace with black diamonds and pink spinels. (What are spinels, you ask? They are, basically, just hard, glassy minerals.) The necklace, which, no, is not available for purchase online, resembles but appears thicker than the men's Narrow Curb Chain Necklace, which IS available for purchase online and retails for $1825.

Instagram of the Week

I search high and low each week (not really, I just browse images tagged #DavidYurman) in a quest to find what is, in my estimation, the best DY-related Instagram of that seven-day stretch. This week's pick comes from @b25thomas.

Not only do I love, love, love the sophisticated-yet-understated look of a Yurman rubber weave bracelet, the shot composition, color scheme, and strategic use of blur here especially impress. Way to wow, @b25thomas.

Check back next Wednesday (and every Wednesday after) for a new DYMANia Instagram of the Week.

A New Yurmanagram

@DavidYurman posted this gem (no sarcasm if you enjoy MacFarlane, dripping with if you don't) to Instagram yesterday.

What are your thoughts regarding Yurman's formal acknowledgement of the host having worn DY? Is MacFarlane someone you want to associate with DY? Is he not? Perhaps you care not. Whatever your view, share it with us.

One's opinions about MacFarlane notwithstanding, it is hard to argue he looked anything but dapper on Sunday.

Just Landed on DY.com

After some weeks of a new product here, a new product there, a slew of legitimately new arrivals have landed on DavidYurman.com. (I say "legitimately" here because much of the product on DY's "New Arrivals" page is new in the relative, last-three-months sense.) Here's a rundown of what is new with DYguy first impressions (FIs) to boot:

David Yurman Chevron Bracelet
Chevron Bracelet, Color Change Garnet, $1300
(also available in cognac diamond)

FI: Cognac would be the way to go here. In my experience c-c garnet never really dazzles outside the showroom. Also, I'm not really feeling the leather band; durability might be a problem in the long term.

David Yurman Meteorite Tag Necklace
Meteorite Dog Tag, $690

FI: I'm glad to see the Meteorite Collection finally trickling online. That being said, bear in mind with meteorite that each piece is distinctive. Some stun, others, eh, well, they are there. Proceed with caution if you decide to purchase sight unseen.

David Yurman Chevron Band Ring
Chevron Band Ring, $350 (also available in gold)

FI: This is a fine band--very understated yet classic Yurman.

David Yurman Meteorite Band Ring
Meteorite Band Ring, $850

FI: Again, cut is king. Hope yours is a good (and by that I mean shimmery) one.

David Yurman Cognac Chevron Ring
Chevron Ring, Cognac Diamonds, $2500
(also available in diamond and blk diamond)

FI: I'm pretty sure that with this on my hand I'd get nothing accomplished at work. Really. Nothing. I get lost in cognac diamonds, I swear.

David Yurman Blue Sapphire Necklace
Small Tag Necklace, Sapphires, $3150
(also available in diamond and blk diamond)

FI: I appreciate this offering in its compactness. A little shimmer goes a long way.

What are your thoughts on the latest DY men's pieces? Which will (if you are like me)--or would (for those with strong will power)--set you back a pretty penny?
